Mall Meal

I hate the mall.  Yes, as girly as I am, I cannot stand the mall.  It's loud and expensive and shallow and involves a lot of walking.  However, that's where I was this weekend.

My friend needed me to take her daughter for the night.  I was really excited about this because everything is more fun when kids are around.  I thought long and hard about what we could do together that would be healthy, fun, and active.  I decided to take her to get a quick dinner and then to the zoo.

There is a grocery store on the way to the zoo.  It is the best place in the world with amazing food.  There are also tables and chairs, so you can eat there.  I got her a slice of pepperoni pizza and got myself a sushi roll and a carton of fresh raspberries.  Yummy!! Healthy! Great!

We pulled into the zoo to find that it was closed for construction.  Oh the horror.  Now what were we supposed to do??  I had a very bored very vocal four-year-old in the backseat and no where to go.  That's when I knew that I was doomed to spend an evening at the mall.

The first thing we did when we got there was stop at the pet store. We saw this cool bird.

I solved one of the riddles of the universe..."Why do people buy Pugs?"  It's because they start out looking like this.  (Upper Right Hand Corner)

I couldn't believe how cute this Pug was!! Anything *baby* is cute.  Even the hatching Velociraptor in Jurassic Park was adorable.

We went for a quick *pony* ride.

Then the munchkin got hungry.  And wanted to go to Friendly's.  Yikes.  Definitely not diet friendly.  But we went.  They were pretty awesome and let me order off the Kid's Menu.

For $6.99 I got a drink...which came with this super cool straw that turned BLUE when you drank out of it!

And a salad.

Croutons are icky so they were banished....

And a grilled chicken wrap with fries.

I did not clear my plate!!

But only so I could save room for this.... mmmmmm..... it's a kid sized *mini* sundae.  It came WITH my meal, so there was no turning it down.  Awesome!

After dinner, we did a lot of walking around the mall.  The munchkin played in this kid's area for a long time and had a lot of fun.  There is no picture of *that* though.  I figured snapping pictures of a bunch of children playing was a sure way to get tackled by mall security.  So, you'll have to use your imagination.

We also went to Old Navy where I bought a pretty pink bathing suit for the munchkin.  They were having a huge sale so I also got two tank tops for $8.

All in all, it was a really fun night.  Especially when the munchkin's mom asked her what the BEST part of the night was, and she answered "Talking to El."  Awww.  She loves me!

  2. I hate malls. Everything about them makes me question why I am there. Glad you were able to have so much fun with the munchkin, and what a great compliment from her!
